Project management can look very different for each type of project. However, it has the same guidelines
for each type.
For instance, in constructing a building, as the owner, your view of the project is all inclusive. You are responsible for the funding and the initiation of the project.
You are very aware of each participants scope or activity. You are there to follow each participant through each step of the project.
You also have the ability to control the cost of your project.
The design professional(s) generally are only concerned with the design and construction of the building. Whether the owner has hired the architect as the lead or the general contractor in the design/build concept. These professionals are focused on this portion of the project. In this group of professionals you will find engineers like the structural, civil, mechanical, soils and electrical. There is also a landscape architect or a sub-contractor to provide the service based on the type of contract the owner has with either the architect or the general contractor.
Project management will be performed by the architect and the general contractor for the building project, each slightly different from the other. Each having there own guidelines and perspectives.
